A year ago, his banner enjoyed it’s first 100 crore success with Housefull 2 turning out to be a superhit at the box office. In the process, Sajid Nadiadwala had many reasons to celebrate as the film was the first ever entry into the 100 crore club for his thick pal Akshay Kumar. Though one would have expected the filmmaker with a 90% success rate to kick-start many films in a jiffy, he surprised many by taking a breather of sorts. Circa 2013 and things have gathered pace, what with Sajid getting busy with multiple films which are in various stages of production.
“Traditionally, Sajid has been quite calm and composed when it comes to his decisions. He has never made films in a haste and this is the reason why even after Housefull 2, he didn’t jump on to another project soon after. He has been strategising his moves in a thorough manner. The year gone by was a consolidating phase where he formed association with numerous other filmmakers and signed quite a few top superstars. He is the only one in the industry who currently has actors like Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor already on board”, informs a trade source.
Not to forget his professional alliance with Karan Johar as well as filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan who making films with him.
“He is not restricting himself to only top superstars. By showing good trust and faith in talent like Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt as well as taking over the responsibility of launching Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, he has clearly shown that his eyes are on future. Same holds good for first time director (Abhishek Verman) as well as Sabbir Khan who is now at the helm of Heropanti“, the source continues.
No wonder, Sajid is all set for the busiest months ever in his professional career, what with at least four films in advanced stage of production.
“Shooting of 2 States and Highway is currently on. Heropanti would go on floors later this month. Meanwhile work on Kick is progressing in full swing. Personally too it is a very important film for Sajid since he would be turning director with this one and that too with none less than Salman Khan as the central protagonist. He has a major year lined up ahead for him”, a close associate adds.
With talks gathering steam around his films with Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor as well, guess next couple of years would make one hear a lot about Sajid Nadiadwala and his banner Nadiadwala Grandson.
