Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari, that released last year, took the audience by storm and the film received praises. But for the lesser known, Randeep Hooda was also doing a film on the same story of the Battle Of Saragarhi which got shelved. The actor has now opened up on not watching the Anurag Singh directorial and how he is still upset about the fact that his film didn’t make it.
It was at the same time that Akshay Kumar headlined Kesari and Randeep Hooda starrer film on the same subject were the talk of the town. The story was about the legendary battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikh soldiers from the British battalion fought with 10,000 Afghani tribesmen. But sadly, Randeep’s film did not see the light of the day.
When asked if Randeep saw Akshay Kumar’s film, the actor according to a Mumbai Mirror report said, “Nope, it didn’t excite me much.”
Talking about his version getting shelved and how he is still upset about the fact, he added, “It hurt that the audience could not see what would probably have been a more authentic version with more real emotions of the story. That apart, you learn to move on. Through the journey, I learnt the principles of Sikhism and I’m a better person now.”
Meanwhile, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kesari went on to become a masses favourite and the film stroke the correct cord of patriotism making its way to the audience’s hearts.
