Dangal is Bollywood’s highest-grossing film of all time. Starring Aamir Khan in the lead, the film is based on the Phagot sisters, who made the country proud in the wrestling world. The magic was not restricted to India but was spread globally. Dangal made overseas collections of 1435 crores, surging its worldwide earnings to 1970 crores gross. It is to be noted that no other Bollywood film has been able to come closer to these mammoth numbers. Atlee & Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is the second highest-grossing film of all time with 1163 crores in earnings, which is about 41% lower than Dangal.
Dangal is made on a decent budget of 90 crores. Out of this, 70% was spent on production while the remaining 20 crores went into promotion and marketing. At the Indian box office, Aamir Khan starrer has earned a profit of 291.07 crores, which takes its profit percentage to 323.41%.
How much did the Phogat family get paid?
As per a report by Hindustan Times, the father of Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, Mahavir Singh Phogat, was paid merely 80 lakhs for providing a green signal to their biography.
When compared to the Indian box office collection, Mahavir Singh Phogat got only 0.2% of the total earnings. But in a media conversation, the family said they were happy to have received whatever they did.
How much did Aamir Khan earn from Dangal?
As per reports, Aamir Khan took home a base salary of 35 crores for his leading role as Mahavir Singh Phogat. But the best is yet to come because the actor also earned a chunk from profit sharing.
Keeping in mind the worldwide earnings, including China, Aamir took home a handsome sum of 375 crores alone from Dangal. Mind-boggling, isn’t it?
