2012 is turning out to be a happening year for Tigmanshu Dhulia. After finally getting his due last year with ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster‘ turning out to be a success, 2012 started on a brilliant note with ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ turning out to be another surprise success for all involved. Meanwhile he kick-started the shoot of ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 2‘ with the best of the talent. Now that he is accumulating all the accolades coming his way for his brilliant performance as an actor in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, Tigmanshu is also giving final touches to his Irrfan Khan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Soha Ali Khan starrer.

Though Irrfan Khan stays on to be Tigmanshu’s favourite right from the ‘Haasil’ and ‘Charas’ days, one wonders why Irrfan he wasn’t the chosen one in the ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster‘ and before that ‘Shagird‘ (where Nana Patekar was the central protagonist).
“We always wanted to work together but then circumstances didn’t allow that. Moreover he was also quite busy with his Hollywood films. Thankfully after ‘Paan Singh Tomar‘, we are back to working with each other all over again”, says Tigmanshu, “Now that I have worked with him in ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 2‘, I am of course a happy man.”
However that too has been made possible by the stroke of luck. If the film would have continued as per the original plan, there would have been Neil Nitin Mukesh in the cast instead of Irrfan.

“See, I won’t deny the fact that earlier it was Neil who was supposed to do the film”, says Tigmanshu after taking a brief pause, “He had come over and said that he wanted to work with me. I told him that I was thinking of ‘Saheb Biwi…’ sequel. I narrated the idea to him. However the film’s script was not in place then. Eventually when everything came on paper, I realised that I needed an older actor. Now either I could have gone by my word and continued with Neil or stick to the script and choose an actor who fitted in perfectly. It was a difficult choice to make but I chose later. Neither Neil nor I hold any grudge though.”
Meanwhile the film is over 90% complete and is being planned for release in the last quarter of the year.
