While the world is struggling with the Pandemic COVID-19, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar faces his own turmoil at the start of the year itself. It all happened back in January when seasoned actor Shabana Azmi was involved in a near-fatal road accident.
For those of you who have joined in late, Shabana Azmi’s car collided with a truck on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway in January. While some pictures of the actress immediately after the accident went viral, she was immediately rushed to the hospital but is now all fine.

But Javed Akhtar has recently opened up in an interview about the first thoughts that came to his head when he heard of the accident and the emotional turmoil thereon.
Speaking to Film Companion, Javed Akhtar said, “Who could think we would have such a calamity. The accident that Shabana went through was really deadly. We were in the other car, she was sleeping in the car behind us and when this accident occurred and we went back, the first thought was ‘Is she alive?’ Because the whole car was crushed, had become a heap of junk. Somehow we took her out, she was unconscious with blood all over her face and it was only from the nose. There were no wounds but the whole body has taken such a whiplash, that it will take a little time to be totally normal.”

Shabana and her driver were first taken to the MGM hospital for instant treatment and then transferred to the Kokilaben Ambani hospital the same day. However, with adequate treatment, Shabana Azmi is all healthy now and was bought back home on the 1st of February.
Interestingly, Javed Akhtar made his Instagram debut today and received a warm welcome from wifey and veteran actress Shabana Azmi.
