The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted actor Sanjay Dutt four more weeks of respite based on his plea that demanded 6 months of space on ‘humanitarian grounds’, before he surrenders and serves his jail term. Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act for his involvement in the 1993 Bombay Blasts case on 21st March. He has requested the apex court to grant him time in order to complete the work on his pending films.
While the Court could not afford such benevolence given the purview of law, he has been given 4 weeks to finish shooting on his immediate projects. Dutt will have to serve another 3 and half years of jail term to conclude his imprisonment sentence. The Supreme Court’s grant is most beneficial for Rajkumar Hirani.
Sanjay has a crucial role in his upcoming film, the Aamir Khan starrer P.K., which has another one week of shooting left to wrap up his role. Rajkumar Hirani has breathed a sigh of relief at this welcome news and has requested the film’s lead actor Aamir Khan to reschedule his shooting for YRF’s Dhoom:3 and accommodate P.K. in order to finish shooting the scenes with Sanjay Dutt.
Sanjay Dutt, who was to surrender on 18th April, will now do so in another 4 weeks. While Hirani luckily scraped through with Sanjay, the actors other impending projects Zanjeer and Policegiri will exert excessive work pressure on Dutt.
Alongside P.K.’s shooting, Sanjay Dutt will also focus on dubbing Zanjeer which was one of his most important releases to come.
