All star kids don’t have the same fate at the Box Office! A living example of such a star kid is Tusshar Kapoor, who has on his shoulders a family name that weighs heavy and he is adamant to keep the sheen alive with his improving acting skills and unfaltering attempts to stand out.
Son of Superstar of his times, Jeetendra Kapoor and brother of the ace producer, Ekta Kapoor, Tusshar somewhere seems camouflaged under their star power, but manages to get noticed for his films presently. He is a Bollywood Underdog. He debuted with a bang with Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, which was termed as a surprise hit, and which also fetched him the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award, but after that followed a concatenation of flops films.
There are some Tusshar Kapoor starrer cines that shouldn’t have been labeled flops as they really did have some substance in them. Enumerated below are some flicks that shouldn’t have been flops.
Directed by Talat Jani, starring Tusshar alongwith Kareena Kapoor, was a tale of childhood love and their indefatigable desire to unite when grown up. The storyline did get exaggerated at times, but the sheer treatment the movie got at the B.O was unkind. The songs did quite well and were above average mark.
We all want to possess vanishing powers, don’t we? They do prove beneficial at times, but when Tusshar’s Gayab hit the box-office, it too vanished. But we ask why? This fresh tale of a simple, middle-class boy, working as a Salesman, who apparently seemed disgusting to all around him, including his parents, suddenly is granted with his wish to disappear from their lives, and he uses the power to stalk his blue-eyed girl; played by Antara Mali; and to make people serve out, was worth a notice. Tusshar did try to make his performance level a notch higher, but people have their minds imprinted with his low acting skills, that they don’t see him improving.
One of the toughest things to do is to make somebody laugh. And when anyone attempts to slightly do so, are not given due credit. Tusshar Kapoor, alongside Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav, slightly did succeed in tickling the funny bones, with C Kkompany. The story of three being distressed out of their lives, owning an imaginary C Kkompany, for extracting extortion money, and then becoming the talk of the nation, did possess matter worth making an impact at the B.O. But the movie received mixed reviews and ultimately failed to leave a mark. But still it did deserve due credit if movies with baseless-headless storyline were declared hits.
When Tusshar plays such a challenging role, no heads turned to notice him. He manages to do well off with his acting skills, but in parts the story line slackened. So even for this Tusshar is put to blame. If direction and story go wrong, that doesn’t mean that the actor has got no skill. Tusshar managed to don off the role of a psychic lover. Though this movie couldn’t recreate the magic of Darr. No comparisons intended!
One of the best performances by Tusshar Kapoor, the storyline was even above average, yet the movie left no impact and went away unnoticed. The portrayal of this love by college students who overcome all obstacles and unite has been an age-old concept, but this movie tried to bring in the fresh angle, but the flick was dumped labeled stereotypic. Tusshar did play his part well and even did Natasha, still the fate of the movie was “flop”.
After delivering a mixed bag of hits and flops, Tusshar is keen on establishing his own image and will someday prove it with his suave and methodical acting, which improves with every shot he delivers. Comedy is Tushhar’s genre, as we all love him in Golmaal and comedy centered films like Dhol, Kya Kool Hai Hum and Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, but even his intense roles in Khakee, Shootout At Lokandwala, Insan and Shor In The City were appreciated.
