With a superstar hero as a brother, an acclaimed writer as his father and a director as his brother, one could well expect Arbaaz Khan to be overwhelmed by the burden of expectations. More so since Dabangg 2 is a sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters ever of Salman Khan and is expected to light up the Christmas season in a big way. One wonders whether the first time director was intimated with the presence of so many forces around him.
“With Salman and Salim saab around, one would well expect Arbaaz to walk through every finer nuances of the film during it’s making since their combined experience could well help Dabangg 2 to shape up as a true blue Bollywood extravaganza. However he made it a point to go by his conviction on the film and reach out to them only if it was absolutely required. Of course he respects their opinion; after all they have been in the business for decades. However he also understands that too many cooks spoil the food and that is something totally unwarranted,” says an insider.
This was evident in the manner in which Arbaaz Khan went ahead and completed the shoot in a stipulated time period. Moreover, there were no creative disconnects between the director and the actor, something that had started becoming a trend of sorts for Salman’s last few releases – Ek Tha Tiger, Ready and Dabangg – when Kabir Khan, Aneez Bazmee and Abhinav Kashyap were calling the shots.
Smiles Arbaaz, “See, there are people whom I respect and whose opinion matters. If I feel that agar main ek stage par atak gaya hoon then I do go to them and in my case it happens to my dad. But then every now and then if I start involving him then that is not fair either. Now if there is a scene that is required to be shot in a garden then you can’t place it in a bedroom because someone suggested so, right? Involving too many people only leads to too much of confusion.”
