Box Office Check: Prabhudheva As A Director | 2nd Edition

Not long ago, Prabhudheva used to stun us with his dance moves and now he does so with his directorials. In the first edition, we had mentioned the director’s excellent work with Wanted and Rowdy Rathore and now with his next Action Jackson up for release, it is time to look at his score card as a director.

Ever since the actor turned a director, he has rocked Bollywood with his masala films. Commercial potboiler is his signature style and with Salman Khan’s Wanted and Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore, Prabhudheva quite successfully carved out his own style of film making. Post making Akki’s stunning double role in action and comic avatar in Rowdy Rathore famous, the director gave Shahid Kapoor a much needed career push with R..Rajkumar. The film starring Shahid and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles made a lifetime business of 64 crores at the box office and quite successfully attained the ‘Plus’ status.

While R.. Rajkumar was one of his signature style films, with the other one Ramaiya Vastavaiya, the director could not maintain his high box office standards. The romantic drama starring newbie Girish Kumar and Shruti Haasan failed miserably and made a lifetime business of mere 31 crores at the India box office and couldn’t even recover its investments.

With Action Jackson starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam and Manasvi Mamgai is coming up this week, there are high expectations from the film as he resumes to his usual ‘masaledaar’ action genre.

The dialogues are quirky and Ajay too seems crackling in the trailers. Also since Ajay has had a good year so far with Singham Returns doing decent business, this would be his second action drama of the year. Considering the audience reception so far to Prabhu’s action flicks, this film is expected to hit the century at the box office.
