Bollywood Newcomers of 2012: What Are They Up To?

Arjun Kapoor:

A true testament to what Bollywood success stories actually mean, this Bollywood starlet transformed himself from a fatty, plump Arjun to an Arjun Kapoor with a well built and sculpted physique when he shone bright with a stellar performance in his maiden film, Ishaqzaade. The flamboyance was unnerving; the charisma alluring, Arjun is one of the busiest actors these days as he has his hands full with back to back three films, two with Yash Raj Films. In Aurangzeb, Arjun plays the lead while in Gunday, Arjun is all set to share screen space with another Bollywood entrant, Ranveer Singh and the overtly gorgeous Priyanka Chopra. Other than the YRF projects, he has reportedly been signed by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala for their joint production cum adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel, 2 States that will be brought to the silver screen with Arjun’s machismo.

Parineeti Chopra:

The bubbly effervescent Parineeti Chopra came to the fore with a dimpled performance in her debut film, Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl playing supporting lead to Anushka Sharma in the film but it was the feisty Zoya in Ishaaqzaade that bedazzled everyone, once and for all; A new star was born in Bollywood! With her kitty full with numerous brand endorsements and Besharam opposite Ranbir ‘Rockstar’ Kapoor, this vivacious new kid on the bloc is up for a rock and roll! And we don’t stop there. She has also her hands full with Maneesh Sharma’s untitled next already signed up.

Alia Bhatt:

Another starlet to the list, Alia Bhatt who made her first on screen appearance playing a child artist in her father’s film, Sangharsh is a shining star now. All thanks to KJo who shaped this young debutante to act and poise for the camera oh-so-beautifully that it is just a matter of time that she will be completely exhausted with offers coming in. Though she haven’t gone official with any film after Student Of The Year, she has reportedly signed up KJo’s joint productional venture 2 States where she would be seen romancing Arjun Kapoor on screen. No wonder, B Town’s Shanaya is all set for a rollicking Bolly outing.

Siddharth Malhotra:

Another eye candy of the KJo masterpiece, Siddharth Malhotra was a supermodel before he started working hard on his acting aspirations. Getting to assist KJo for My Name Is Khan and then ending up as one of the leads in his next, it was a roller coaster ride for Sid, one that only touched highs each time. With such a power packed performance in his debut film, he has got a string of offers coming his way. And recent reports from the rumour mill suggest that he’s ousted Abhishek Bachchan from Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, taking up the supporting lead to the Badshah Shah Rukh Khan, himself. Not just that, he has also been tentatively signed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures for a two film deal. Intelligent move, one must admit!

Varun Dhawan:

With so many dishy dudes already doing the rounds, it was time that we have someone else with a striking body, and perfect looks. Little did we know that Karan Johar had already planned such a big surprise for us in Varun Dhawan who not only excelled with his acting credibility but gave everyone many reasons to enjoy SOTY. Haven’t being signed by anyone, as of now, it is not much time left before headlines start gripping headlines on Varun who has a unique knack to try different roles and challenge himself.

Ayushmann Khurrana:

A successful VJ, an even more successful TV anchor took the leap from the small screen and voila! We had the new craze of sperms donation going ablaze with a brilliant story written by Shoojit Sircar in the form of Vicky Donor with the Punjabi munda Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead. A multi-talented guy of sorts, Ayushmann’s singing and composing capabilities also were tracked with the lovely ‘Paani Da Rang’ and there was no full stop on offers that poured in from all directions. He took the lead and accepted multiple films, with the likes of the upcoming Rohan Sippy helmed Nautanki Saala and Shoojit Sircar’s next under John Abraham’s productional banner, Humara Bajaj. Off late, he was also in news for refusing a film with Kunal Kohli for date issues.

Yami Gautam:

The leggy model, who once added oomph on the ramp floors, had been part of numerous ad commercials and television soap before she jumped onto the big screen. With Vicky Donor setting a huge standard for small budget films, raking in the most money and grossing in the most applauses from all over the world, it was inevitable for Yami Gautam to sign up more and more films, which she just did. Shoojit Sircar’s muse of sorts, Yami is all slated to play the lead in his next, titled Humara Bajaj opposite Ayushmann (again!). Not just that, she has also been roped in to play lead heroine opposite Ali Zafar in E.Niwas’s Aman Ki Ashaa.

Ileana D’Cruz:

A heavyweight down south, the Goan beauty scorched the Hindi film arena with an astounding supporting performance in Anurag Basu’s magnum opus Barfi! earlier this year. Accepted widely by the audience and applauded by critics for her lovely portrayal of Shruti in the film, Ileana D’Cruz tasted overnight success and signed up Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero opposite the dashing Shahid Kapoor even before Barfi hit the screens and created the thunderstorm all around. With the shoots for her new film already making noise, it is not surprising that the beautiful diva has been bombarded with numerous film offers already. How she picks and chooses her next move is all that we need to see!
