With the IPL gathering steam, you can be sure that no Bollywood film wants to have their release date anywhere near this cricketing juggernaut. To add to it, even Aamir Khan has put his film Talaash on the backburner to concentrate on his television show. But unlike their desi counterparts, Hollywood has no qualms releasing their films amidst stiff competition from this unofficial religion of India.
The past two years have been very good for big Hollywood films in India. Films like Avatar, Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and others have done very well at the box-office. So its no surprise that other Hollywood biggies are hoping to recreate the magic at the windows. Here’s a look at some of the big ticket Hollywood releases in 2012:
Release date: 6 April 2012
Official synopsis: Titanic is an American epic romance and disaster film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson, Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, Gloria Stuart as Old Rose, and Billy Zane as Rose’s fiancé, Cal Hockley. Jack and Rose are members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.
Koimoi says: While most of us have already watched this romance-drama when it released first in 1997, James Cameron has decided to re-release the movie in 3D this time. We can bet that many will return for this rehashed version of the Titanic either for the splendid visuals and the unforgettable romance or for the nude painting of Kate Winslet and their steamy scene in a car.
The mighty Titanic will lock horns with the dirty dozen of Housefull 2 in theatres. But we’re not sure if that’s even a fair fight.

Koimoi says: Since Batman and Spiderman have their own movies, it looks like Marvel took the easy way out by clubbing the best of their superheroes in The Avengers. With superheroes of this calibre and from the looks of the trailer, we’re sure this one’s going to a power-packed adventure.
Will Jannat 2 give some competition to these saviours? Not really, as different people will go for these very different films.

Koimoi says: Andrew Garfield may not exactly be the star to bring audiences flocking to theatres but the Spider-Man will still weave its magic in theatres here. Fortunately, this webbed hero doesn’t have any competition at the box-office for the time being.

Koimoi says: The final instalment of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight rises sees the caped crusader return to Gotham city, only this time he has the back-breaker Bane as his nemesis. With an eerily thrilling trailer and a franchise that has fanboys in a firm grip, Batman will definitely have us cheering for the last time The Dark Knight Rises.
