The upcoming Hrithik Roshan starrer flick Mohenjo Daro is set in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation, and to give the movie a perfect look of the ancient world, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker got in touch with several archaeologists.
In the initial phase, Gowariker read many books like ‘Excavations at Mohenjo Daro‘ and Ancient India: Land of Mystery by Jonathan Mark Kenoyer which are based on that era.
The 52-year-old director even took assistance from Kenoyer, Dept of Anthropology, University of Wisconsin who has worked at the Mohenjo Daro excavation site for the past 35 years.
Ashutosh even shared the instances of the architecture that was followed at that time. The buildings were just two-storey tall and there was no use of iron, the weapons used were also made of flint stone.
As gold was not discovered at that time, they used to use precious stones like Steatite beads, Carnelian beads. Barter system was practiced in the era, instead of money and Ashutosh has kept in mind all these factors while filming.
Mohenjo Daro also stars Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi and Arunoday Singh in key roles. Shot in Bhuj, Kutch the movie is slated to release on August 12.
