Anurag Kashyap, who gifted the industry this year with an unconventional ‘masaledar’ flick Gangs of Wasseypur, is all set to don the director’s hat yet again. While the Media was going ablaze with the talks of Anurag directing Bombay Velvet right after Gangs of Wasseypur, a recent press meet held by the crafted director has set the records straight.
At the press meet held recently, Anurag announced his new film Ugly along with Phantom Films Pvt Ltd team. Little is known about the project as of now but what we understood from the press meet is that Ugly probably deals with the ‘chaatwalas’. When asked about the unusual choice of the title for his film, he quickly defended with a smile. “Ugly is a very beautiful title. It is written in pink,” he answered wittily.
Speaking about the uniqueness of his film, he retorted, “I don’t know if a film like this has ever been made. This is not Life Of Pi or Avatar. There is nothing new in this film which you haven’t seen or heard before. It’s just that it hits some note within you where you feel it’s very important that a film should be made on this.”
Talking about taking the commercial route in Bollywood Anurag explained, “There is nothing is like “commercial film”. A film gets tagged as ‘commercial’ only when it does good business and rakes in a lot of money. So don’t limit our films. If you do so, then even creativity gets hampered and then you’ll start questioning us for making the same kind of films.”
“The ugliest thing in us is the moment of insecurity that people have within them which pulls them back in life,” Anurag signed off in his signature style.
