A Bollywood persona like Amitabh Bachchan has his plate full when it comes to endorsements. The actor who promotes an array for brands is being accused of promoting ‘evil faith’ and superstitions through one of his Ad commercials.
A Pune based social activist, Hemant Patil moved to court and filed a complaint against the Bollywood actor. According to the activist, the children’s health drink ad, that features Big B, is a misrepresentation as Amitabh Bachchan is seen as a ghost in it. This portrayal signifies ‘false beliefs’ and promotes superstition is what the activist stated.
Patil has filed a complaint under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifices and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. The activist also added that when he tried to lodge a complaint at the Bandra police station, he was refused to do so and thus had to approach the court.
Big B also plays a ghost in his upcoming film Bhoothnath Returns which is up for release soon.
The Mumbai Magistrate, Sita Kulkarni has placed the hearing for this matter on 18th April.
