Aishwarya Rai – Madhur Bhandarkar’s Bitter-Sweet Parting Over Heroine

A quick calculation, on basis of the baby’s due date in November, revealed to them that Aishwarya knew she was pregnant before the shooting for ‘Heroine’ began. It was quite upsetting to them that she had not considered it necessary to inform them of her happy status. But that, it was obvious to all, was history. In a meeting with Aishwarya, according to reliable sources, Bhandarkar and UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapur, told her that going ahead with the film was just not possible and they suggested that they jointly call a press conference and explain to the media that ‘Heroine’ was being shelved.

Apparently, Aishwarya was insistent on going ahead with the film and said that she would commit the entire month of July towards its completion – the period, presumably, before the baby bump began to show. However, Bhandarkar was clear that he would not be able to push through the shooting of his leading lady’s scenes in July and, moreover, he simply didn’t want to risk an injury to Aishwarya that could have long ranging, and possibly distressing, consequences. As the press conference was nixed, both the parties, perhaps sensibly, have chosen to remain silent on the controversy that is raging all over the industry and the media. But there’s no getting away from the fact that Aishwarya is unhappy and Bhandarkar and UTV are not too pleased either. Hopefully, the baby inside Aishwarya is too small to have heard the discomforting discussion between the mother-to-be, and the not-to-be makers of ‘Herione’.
