9 Years Of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara: Zoya Akhtar’s 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara has achieved a status of cult among the audience that loves this film. But it’s not like, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar & Abhay Deol has built its fan following over the years. 9 years back when the film released it was a commercial success.
So, as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara completes its 9 years today we are here with a fact that not many of you might be aware of. Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were the first choices for the film instead of Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol but the actors declined the offer. Reason? Apparently, they thought they were too young to be Farhan Akhtar’s friends in the film.
In fact, during an interview with Mid-Day back in 2011 when Farhan Akhtar was asked about the same, he didn’t decline the reports. Instead, he said, “Could be. They haven’t told me that. Everyone has their own reasons.”
Talking about how several stars had problems playing Arjun Rampal’s character in Rock On, he said, “A lot of people didn’t feel comfortable doing Arjun Rampal’s role in Rock On before we cast him. Arjun came on board, the film did very well and he won a National Award. Now, those actors meet me and say they have done the biggest mistake of their lives. So when you chose not to do a film it’s got to do with yourself and no one else. You might think that film is not good enough for you or you don’t want to compete with other actors. Who knows! Everybody has their own reasons.”
So apparently, after Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan declined to play the part, Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol came on board respectively. In fact, Hrithik Roshan also played the part in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara after his then-wife Sussanne Khan pushed him. That’s the reason she’s even given credit at the start of the movie.
