Twinkle Khanna: “I Don’t Think There’s Anything Like A Star Wife”

A hands on mommy, a successful interior designer, film producer and an acclaimed writer – Twinkle Khanna, is all set to add another feather to her cap as she launches her own online content portal, Tweak that will exclusively talk to women about every aspect of their lives, with a healthy dose of irreverence and optimism from aspects revolving around wellness, beauty and a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle.

And now speaking about this idea brewing in her head for the last six years, Twinkle was quoted by Deccan Chronicle as, “When I started writing, so many people wrote to me saying there was something that resonated with them. So I realised we all are trying to make our lives easy in a world that is fundamentally lopsided. I want to be free and not worry whether my eyelashes are falling off in the coffee. I want to come to work in my track pants. I want to have that freedom to be away from the perceived physical appearances and this was the way to do it.”

On being called a star wife the former actress laughs it off saying, “First of all I don’t think there’s anything like a star wife. You never have doctor’s or lawyer’s wife. You have first wife which is okay, I am really not sure what a star wife is, and whether it should exist in our lexicon. I grew up with very famous parents. My struggle was to find my own path from the beginning. It is just that along the way, I met someone who was again as luck-would-have-it, in the limelight but that’s his life, career and it has nothing to do with me. In fact his income also has nothing to do with me. My contribution towards my home and children is an individual contribution.”

The actress who is thoroughly opinionated and not someone to mince her words, was asked if her opinions cause tiffs in the house. Twinkle reveals, “You are not imposing those on each other. That’s the only secret I follow, otherwise you are only going to get into an argument. It’s not only between a couple but even the world needs to learn to live with the person who is not on the same page as us and that is perfectly fine.”
