Will Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Manage To Make It Big At The Box Office?

With a disappointing first quarter at the Box Office, which managed to get numbers through the movies which could be counted on fingertips, hopes are now on the next quarter which kick starts with the release of YRF’s Dibakar Banerjee directed, Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. As the movie hits the screens today, here is what the exhibitors and distributors have to say:

Akshaye Rathi (Exhibitor):
The one thing that can make Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (like any other film) work well at the box office is the merit of its content! Sushant Singh Rajput has had a good stint at the box office so far, but his stardom isn’t big enough yet to draw huge crowd to the cinemas across the country. YRF will have to depend upon the film’s content for the film’s success and thankfully, that’s a department that they score well in more often than not.

Ashok Ahuja (Consultant Sales Distribution & IPR Management; Ishka films & Mangalmurti films):
Content based films are doing well. Take the case of NH 10 and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. I expect the film will take a very decent opening due to the holiday weekend and subsequently grow with the word of mouth.

Rajesh Thadani (Distributor and Exhibitor):
The film should work as the whole setup is interesting and mainly the subject.
