Hina Khan is currently talk of the town. She was last seen in Naagin 5. The actress did the first few episodes to launch Ekta Kapoor’s show. However, fans were disappointed when Surbhi Chandna took over as they wanted to continue watching their favourite.
The former Bigg Boss contestant is not looking forward to be a part of Television anymore. Multiple times now, Hina has been offered some exciting content. But she has been adamant that it is not the space she wants to be at currently. Well, there’s a serious reason behind it that will make you hail the actress more than ever.
Kasautii Zindagii Kay’s former Komolika has mentioned how TV is regressive. Hina Khan feels that there’s no revolution. We still see women as a ‘bechari’ and disrespect her. That’s one aspect the actress does not want to promote anymore.
In a conversation with Times Of India, the Naagin 5 actress said, “If you ask me personally, as Hina Khan, I don’t relate to this genre. I don’t watch television, but this supernatural and fantasy based genre shows, films we keep watching from Hollywood. We know it is not true, it is made up, magic is not true but we still watch it. Supernatural is still fine, for sometime I will still watch a show like Naagin because I know it is a lie and this is being created. But anyway I am not very fond of and am not very happy with the kind of content we have on Indian television.”
She continued, “It is very regressive. We have no empowered women on television, we disrespect women, look down upon them, we do everything possible to make her look like a bechari because that’s what sells and that’s what works. And as a viewer it doesn’t excite me and which is why I don’t watch television.”
Hina Khan also mentioned how she felt the baggage of playing Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Although she was scared, it was her confidence that helped her overcome it all. We wouldn’t deny that she quite literally nailed her role.
