Comedy is a difficult business to be in these days. With the tolerance levels of people going down with each passing day, it has become more and more difficult to broach several subjects. And recently one of the founders of the now-defunct AIB, Rohan Joshi faced the repercussions of this attitude of society.
Some old social media posts of Rohan Joshi have now resurfaced and has caused nothing less than chaos in the life of the comedian. These posts saw the comedian making fun of some Indian Politicians. So much so that Joshi has revealed that he has been getting death threats due to the clip that was shot years ago.
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Rohan Joshi has officially apologized for hurting the sentiments of people. But along with the apology also comes a request, “Please leave my family alone”. Scary isn’t it? However, there is also a certain section of netizens who stand by Rohan.
Taking to his social media handle, Rohan Joshi shared an image that read, “Going offline for a few days. Number and address have been leaked, so the last few days have been a circus of abuse, threats, 2 am phone calls and anxious spirals. See you on the other side whenever I guess. I’m sorry if I offended anyone’s sentiments with my words and I apologise without any qualifications and reservations for any words I have spoken that have hurt someone’s religious sentiments. Please leave my family alone.”
Several internet users have shared their sympathies with Rohan Joshi. Some of the comments on his post include, “Take care of yourself and the family..we as your internet family are right behind you…if you want us to help you, stand for you, speak for you..we are here.” Another fan wrote, “Unfortunate that comedians must go through such trauma for something as basic as a joke.” His Twitter handle, however, does not exist any longer.
