Vijay Deverakonda is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie, Family Star. The Telugu romantic drama is directed by Parasuram and also stars Mrunal Thakur in the lead role. The film is just a few days away from its release, and the buzz is quite high. However, before the film’s release, Vijay got into a controversy after his statement regarding debutant directors.

In an interview recently, the Arjun Reddy star was asked if he would work for a debut director from the Tamil industry. Vijay Deverakonda said he doesn’t work with debutants, and the director needs to be at least one old film. The actor believes it’s a huge challenge when one comes directly onto a set, and there will also be pressure to handle the budget and scale. Once a director has done at least one film, they will have a practice, like a warm-up. Hence, he doesn’t want to work with debutants.

Vijay Deverakonda’s statement didn’t go well with netizens. The actor has now given a clarification on why he doesn’t want to work with debut directors. As reported by the 123Telugu web portal, during a press conference for his upcoming movie Family Star, the actor clarified, “Who will work with debutant actors if I lock debutant directors for my projects? New actors need them, and I am open to collaborating with them after a film, regardless of its box office performance.”

The Kushi actor added, “I need to understand the director’s vision and expertise before committing to a project. Additionally, considering the substantial budgets of my films now, I have to be responsible and ensure I make informed decisions. Hence, I mentioned that I prefer directors with at least one movie under their belt, provided the script is compelling.”
