The latest news related to the remake is, the makers are in talks with Sivaji actress Shriya Saran for the role of leading lady in the film. The original had Mollywood actress Manju Warrier opposite Dhanush in lead.
However, an official confirmation related to the same is yet to be made by the makers.
As per reports, the film will be helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi and will be bankrolled by Suresh Babu.
Earlier there were reports about the actor-producer duo – Venkatesh and Suresh approaching director Tharun Bhascker to helm the Telugu remake, but following his busy schedule, the latter rejected the offer. Filmmaker Vetrimaaran who made the original film too was approached by Suresh, but the former showed the least interest in making the remake of his own film.
