In his own words, Saif Ali Khan has acknowledged that the script of Race 2 could have been better. While he can of course afford to say that, especially since the film has done well by heading towards the 100 crores mark, hence turning out to be his biggest money spinner till date, he is also super confident about the script of his next, Go Goa Gone.
“That’s one film which is really close to his heart. This time around it is a script, and not star, driven affair. For those who complained that Race 2, Cocktail and Agent Vinod were escapist cinema, Go Goa Gone is an answer”, informs an industry insider.
The film, which is co-produced by Saif and his partner Dinesh Vijan while being backed by Sunil Lulla of Eros, has also been pitched as nothing less than a game changer for all involved. Though there are zombies expected to invade the screen, the makers have made sure that there isn’t anything gory or repulsive about the whole affair. In the contrary, it is comedy that rules the roost.
“No one would have ever imagined that a zombie comic action thriller could ever come out of Bollywood. However that has happened with Go Goa Gone. Saif could easily have made another biggie, especially since he is now all set to get into the 100 crore club. However he wanted to make this film with director duo of Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru (of 99 and Shor In The City fame). It was the power of script that made him go for it”, adds a source.
While Go Goa Gone is primarily targeted at the urban market, Saif is making sure that his star presence enhances the film’s visibility and is planning to go all out. Guess no one would have reasons to complain around the script with this one.
A trade source says enthusiastically, “Let’s not forget the marketing pull that Lullas carry. If they can ensure a Table No. 21 to work with Rajeev Khandelwal, we are talking about Go Goa Gone with Saif here.”
A co-production of Illuminati Films and Eros International, Go Goa Gone has Kunal Khemu and Vir Das as the young leads and releases all over on 5th April.
