Ayesha separated from her husband in 2012 and married Shikhar in the same year. It seemed like all was well. Dhawan also became the father figure to Mukherjee’s two daughters from her first marriage. She would also accompany Shikhar on his cricket tours.
Shikhar‘s career skyrocketed after 2013 when he scored five hundred in 28 matches. He also received the ‘Man of the Tournament’ title at the end of the 2013 Champions Trophy season.
The two also welcomed their son, Zoravar, in 2014. And Shikhar was the most doting father.
Shikhar Dhawan & Ayesha Mukherjee Divorce
News of a rift between the couple started circulating after it was reported that Ayesha was living in Australia while Dhawan was touring.
Things escalated after Dhawan filed for a divorce, citing mental cruelty. In his plea to Delhi High CoHigh, Dhawan mentioned that his wife had promised that she would live in India, but because of her commitment to her ex-husband because of their daughters, she had to stay back in India.
Dhawan also mentioned that he had been kept away from his son for several years and that Mukherjee was trying to alienate Shikhar from his son. As per media reports, Shikhar Dhawan also gave her Rs. 13 crore in their eight years of marriage.
While Dhawan had initially wanted to reconcile and work on their marriage, things turned sour beyond repair. Finally, in September of 2021, the Delhi High Court granted Dhawan their son’s divorce and visitation rights because Mukherjee did not contest or fulfill her assurances.
The two have been separated for over two years, but Dhawan has since reunited with his son.
While Shikhar’s charm and luck have worked wonders for him on the field, his personal life has been a story plucked straight out of nightmares. Fans have also hoped the best for Dhawan and continue to wish him the best after dealing with a tough time in his life.
