#FlashbackFriday: Chris Evans made his MCU debut with Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. But the role was first offered to The Office actor, John Krasinski. Chris is perfect as Steve Rogers and Cap, but some fans feel that even John could’ve pulled off the character well.
Recently, Chris Evans opened up on how Marvel, especially Kevin Feige really wanted him to play Captain America. Despite rejecting the offer several times, Kevin didn’t give up on Chris. But The Office actor John Krasinski was also looking forward to playing the character when he was offered. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on ‘The Ellen Show’ earlier, Krasinski had opened about losing the role to Evans.
John Krasinski who played Jim Halpert on The Office shared, “The truth is they hadn’t offered him (Chris) to yet, so they were like, ‘let’s see who else is out there’ before they offered it to Chris Evans. I went in and I tested for Captain America. I got to wear the suit which was really fun. This is a true story. I was putting the suit on and this guy was really momentous. I was putting the suit, it was half-way up, not wearing any other clothes on. Right at that moment, Chris Hemsworth walks by and he was like ‘You look good, mate’. No, you know what it’s fine. We don’t have to do this. He was just like jacked. He was like ‘you’re gonna look great in that suit’. I was like don’t make fun of me Hemsworth. So, I just walked away right that.”
