Mammootty and Jiiva’s Yatra 2 has had a dismal run at the Telugu box office. The movie opened with decent numbers when it hit theatres on February 8. However, the collections have not picked up ever since. Read on to know how Yatra 2 has fared in 7 days.
In order to prevent a competition at the box office with another Telugu movie Eagle, which features a relatively more prominent star – Ravi Teja, the makers of Yatra 2 decided to release the movie one day earlier than planned. This strategic move paid off well for the producers, as the film managed to earn a commendable amount of 2.05 crore on its opening day, which was a Thursday.
Yatra 2 started with a promising opening, but unfortunately, it couldn’t maintain the same level of momentum throughout its theatrical run. Despite having a good start, the film failed to show any growth in its collections over the weekend and struggled to maintain its opening day collections. Instead, the film’s collections dropped drastically day by day.
On the second day of its release, the movie witnessed a sharp decline of 65%, earning only 0.7 crore. Things didn’t get any better for the film as it managed to make only 0.65 crore on the third day and slightly picked up on the fourth day with 0.7 crore. However, on the fifth day, it saw a typical Monday drop, earning only 0.53crore.
The movie’s content did not seem to work for the audience, and as a result, the footfall in theaters kept decreasing on a daily basis. On the sixth day, the Mammooty-starrer collected only 0.48 crore, and on the seventh day, it earned a mere 0.43 crore. The total net India collection of Yatra 2 for seven days stands at a dismal 5.54 crore, which is quite disappointing. Even the fanbase of the legendary actor Mammootty couldn’t help the movie from sinking.
Yatra 2 failed at the Overseas box office
While on the domestic front, the movie struggled to make a mark, Yatra 2’s overseas journey too has not been pleasant. The film barely raked in 0.75 crore from the international arena, taking its gross worldwide total to round figure 7.28 crore.
The film will most likely end its theatrical run by the end of this week.
