The Odyssey is back at #1 and remains there with a solid hold at the North American box office. It is all set to cross another major domestic milestone during this weekend. It will also move closer to beating The Avengers and break into the all-time top 15 grossers domestically. Nolan’s film collected a solid $1.2 million on its 8th Thursday at the domestic box office, recording the 6th-biggest 8th Thursday of all time, down 33.1% from last Thursday.

According to Box Office Mojo‘s data, The Odyssey has reached the $593.1 million domestic box office cume on its 8th Thursday. It is less than $7 million away from hitting the $600 million domestic milestone. The mythological epic is on track to earn around $8 million in its 9th weekend, and with that, the movie will cross this major milestone at the North American box office.

It is Universal’s second-highest-grossing movie of all time in North America. To gain the #1 spot, it must beat Jurassic World’s $653.4 million lifetime total. However, the film is still tracking to earn between $615 and $630 million in its domestic run. It is performing better than Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the domestic box office, which has dropped below $1 million.

Made on a reported budget of $250 million, the mythological epic has surpassed $1.64 billion at the worldwide box office. The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, was released on July 17.
