The Odyssey debuted at #1 in Japan on Friday and collected a solid $2 million on its opening day. It includes the $1.3 million 7-day limited IMAX previews. It is more than Oppenheimer‘s $800k preview collection. It is the 5th-biggest opening day of 2026 for Hollywood, beating Wicked: For Good’s $1 million, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s $1.4 million, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s $1.6 million.
