The Lion King has emerged as a success story in India. Just a few weeks back it was Spider-Man: Far From Home which spun its magic in India and now it is the turn of The Lion King to do even better. On Sunday, it accumulated a massive 24.54 crores, which is indeed huge for a computer generated film. Audiences came in hordes across the country to watch the visual spectacle and that resulted in houseful signs for quite a few shows at number of centers.
The film has gathered a huge 54.75 crores already which is far bigger than what The Jungle Book had collected in its opening weekend [40.19 crores] back in 2016. That film had stayed ultra stable right through the weekdays too, as a result of which the first week billing read as 74.63 crores. The weekend trend shows that The Lion King would enjoy good weekdays well , as a result of which one can well expect good collections rolling into the second weekend too despite the release of new Hindi films.

As for the Hindi films that released over the weekend gone by, the collections stayed on to be on the lower side. Jhootha Kahin Ka still did relatively better as 2 crores came in. The comedy managed to show some growth on day by day basis and has brought at least some sort of audiences for itself. On the other hand Family of Thakurganj had a restricted screen and show count for itself. There were at least some quarters from which some good appreciation came in. However, the weekend has still stayed under the 1 crore mark.
