Arya, Vijay, Sethupathi and Shaam starrer film Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai hit the screens with a message, a week back. On the first day, thanks to a positive word of mouth, it pumped the collections of the flick to around 6 Crores. Even though the flick got settled on the average line, it managed to get good talk in the audience in the first one week span.
Lead actors, Arya, Vijay, Shaam and Karthika’s performance got good marks while the pace and the lack of commercial elements turned out to be a negative aspect in the flick. In fact, the emotions in the flick attracted audiences to major extent. As a story with politics related content, everyone felt that it may raise controversies in the state of Tamil Nadu. Fortunately, the film maker didn’t touch the sensitive topics and he played a safe game. All these helped “Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai” to move with average pace as per the collections at the box office.
As per the recent box office reports, this film has collected around 3.28 Crores at the box office, on an average over the entire week. Latest reports mentioned 2.78 Crores as the 9th day collection of “Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai”. Still the film is looking strong at the box office and it may mint around 2.75 Crores on the weekend days. Total collections of this flick may touch 35 – 45 Crores in the final run. Arya’s craze and the film makers strategic decisions of skipping sensitive political concepts and giving good preference to all the lead roles in the film, is making analysts estimate 35 – 45 Crores collection mark for this flick.
