Phata Poster Nikhla Hero began well at the box office. The film recorded a good opening mainly in the range of 40%-50% in the morning shows. The single screens saw a better start as compared to the multiplexes. However, PPNH saw a satisfactory occupancy in key circuits like M.P, U.P and Rajasthan.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero might face a sticky time at the multiplexes where Grand Masti is already reigning in terms of greater number of shows, given the film’s popularity, while The Lunchbox being a critically acclaimed film has claimed a higher number of shows than expected.
