Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and Grand Masti are both extremely dull overseas. The latter has only managed to make USD 1 million in the last 10 days in the key circuits of international markets. The film fared poorly overseas mainly because of its inability of procure a release in the G.C.C due to its loud and crude content because of which the film lost a considerable part of its income in the global markets!
However, one could have hoped that Shahid Kapoor’s Phata Poster Nikhla Hero would be a respite for Bollywood audiences overseas, but the film was quite a low at the box-office overseas.
In the key markets globally, Phata Poster… hasn’t performed inexplicably well. In United Kingdom, the film has so far made £ 79,000. In Canada and U.S.A, the film has made a total of $260,000. In the U.A.E and G.C.C circuit, the film has made $445,000. And in Australia, the film rested at $25,000.
However, Shuddh Desi Romance fared well overseas with the film’s total global collections resting at USD 2 million so far. Being a breezy take on contemporary romance, the film portrayed a rare scenario of relationship crises faced by modern day youth. There are insecurities regarding marriage, simply because it is still branded as the more stable form of relationship in our culture.
