Hotel Mumbai Box Office: Hotel Mumbai starring Dev Patel & Anupam Kher in the lead hit the cinemas this Friday and was a niche release. The film got a very small release and on top of that faced competition from another release i.e Commando 3.
Hotel Mumbai’s first day numbers were unexpectedly dull and so is the weekend business. But the trend it has shown over the weekend has proved that the content has got appreciation among the people who have watched it.
Hotel Mumbai earned 1.08 crores on Friday, jumped on Saturday to earn 1.70 crores and on Sunday it did a business of 2.03 crores. The Friday to Sunday growth was almost 100% but the situation could’ve been better if the Friday number was at least equal to the Sunday number. The weekend business of the film is 4.81 crores net and it should remain rock steady on weekdays to save some grace.
The film is based on the deadly 26/11 terror attack of 2008 in Mumbai. Talking about the same Anupam Kher recently said it was not at all easy for him to be part of such a project.

In the movie, Anupam essays the role of Hemant Oberoi, the celebrated chef who saved many lives on the fateful night in The Taj Mahal Palace hotel during the attacks.
“This character has been very difficult and at the same time very close to my heart. To play the character of a man who conquered his fear for the safety of others was an emotionally very intense experience for me. To understand what went in the hotel that dreadful day still sends shivers down my spine.
“In my heart, I was not just paying tribute to the victims of 26/11 but also to the victims of terrorism anywhere in the world and in such performances feeling is more important than the craft of an actor. I am glad that people liked my performance. There is no greater reward for an actor than being loved by his audience,” Kher said.
