In their first seven days, Raees and Tubelight had scored 109.01 crores and 106.86 crores respectively. Now Padmaavat has enjoyed a hefty four day weekend (plus the paid previews) to enjoy 114 crores collections already. What makes this number even sweeter is the fact that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed flick is not playing in a number of states and if not for that the collections would have been much huger and challenged some of the other major successes already.
Nonetheless, it is time to celebrate for all involved with the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh have now scored their third century each (after Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani]. As for Deepika Padukone, this is yet another addition to the series of centuries that she has already delivered. On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor has now finally entered the 100 Crore Club after being in the industry for a decade and a half. The film’s success would give a huge impetus to his career.
What needs to be seen though is how much bigger does the film turn out to be in time to come. There are 11 more open days ahead for the historical drama before PadMan and Aiyaary strike on 9th February. This gives the film good enough space to succeed. The extended opening weekend has given the film a very good platform to consolidate and from this point on an average of 10 crores per day would allow a 200 Crore Club entry.
