Exactly a year ago there was a strong buzz in the air that Emraan Hashmi had been approached by the big daddies of Bollywood, Chopras, for a film. However, the turnaround happened sooner than expected as the talks fizzled out. There is a buzz on the air though that the premium production house and Emraan could well be back in talks even as the production house has a horde of releases lined up for release while the actor is fast consolidating his position as a saleable hero.
“At that time they couldn’t connect on the film and the reason cited was that Emraan was way too busy to pick up a new assignment. Since he was already committed to Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar and Ungli, managing dates turned out to be an issue. However now that Emraan is looking for a fresh slate of films, there is a very strong possibility of him reconnecting with Yash Raj”, informs our well placed source.
Emraan’s current box office standing has put a lot of weight on the developments as well. With Karan Johar signing him for another film opposite Kareena Kapoor, his presence unofficially confirmed for Gutka where he features alongside Akshay Kumar and an international film White Lies under production, Emraan is finding his status consolidated as a superstar.
For the production house which is investing on young blood like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput, inclusion of Emraan only promises to add on to the repertoire. Ditto for Emraan who would be firming up his position after making inroads into Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor camp.
An insider further confirmed, “Yash Raj realise Emraan’s potential and popularity. On the other hand Emraan loves the kind of films that the production house makes. An announcement could well be in the offering.”
When contacted, Rafiq Gangjee, Vice President – Marketing & Communications at Yash Raj Films, said, “No, this is not true.” Emraan too was conscious in his comments and said, “I love Aditya Chopra’s vision and admire him as a filmmaker.”
Seemingly, if at all these developments indeed have to firm up into something concrete, there is either still some time for that or perhaps all associated want to bring on the news in a ‘dhamakedaar andaaz’. We are waiting!
