And if you thought Kabaddi was restricted to India, you are wrong. World Kabaddi League that is prepping up to play the game in over 26 countries is the new sport rage for India.
Joining the league recently is actress Sonakshi Sinha who bought the United Singhs Team which is co-owned by U.K’s The Hayre Group. Sonakshi announced this at a press event in Mumbai yesterday.
Talking to the reporters the actress said, “I am really excited to be part of World Kabaddi League. This is my first such endeavour. Kabaddi is a fast paced sport and I am looking forward to some adrenalin rush moments during the League.”
The actress is doing her best to accommodate WKL in her choc-a-bloc schedule. WKL will be played in its most popular style. Other Bollywood actors who own their Kabaddi teams are Akshay Kumar and rapper Honey Singh.
IPL was just the beginning and given that it is India’s most popular sport, it came naturally. But it seems, actors are rampantly investing huge sums in other sports too these days. Kabaddi’s earthly feel will surely grab the eyeballs of Indian audiences whose affinity for the sport is well-known.
