The upcoming crime-drama Raees featuring Shah Rukh Khan in leading roles has landed in legal trouble. Apparently, the character of Shah Rukh Khan in the movie is said to be loosely based on the life of Abdul Latif Sheikh, who had 40 murder cases against him.
Mustak Ahmed Abdul Latif Shaikh, who is the son of Abdul Latif has sent legal notice of cease-and-desist to the nine prominent members of the film, which includes Shah Rukh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and director Rahul Dholakia.
This cease-and-desist notice advises, the team from “screening, promoting, releasing, publicizing, advertising and exploiting the Hindi film titled Raees.” Mushtak through this notice has questioned the makers asking why and how are they making the film on his father’s life.
As per Mushtak, his father was a famous businessman with deep roots in the society and since the film is showing his father in negative light, he needs an explanation from the makers.
Reportedly, the set of house which was built in filmcity during the shooting, was supposedly the replica of Latif’s residence. Raees also stars debutante Mahira Khan.
