The news that Soham Shah, the director of Kaal and Luck, will be remaking Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘80s classic, Satte Pe Satta, has caused a lot of excitement in diehard Bollywood fans. We’ve seen remakes of Sholay, Karz, Umrao Jaan and so many more, so what will a contemporary ‘Satte Pe Satta’ look like?

So far, only Sanjay Dutt has been approached for the lead role done by Amitabh in the original. The rest of the cast has not been finalised. Here are koimoi.com’s suggestions on who the dream team should be for the remake of ‘Satte Pe Satta’.

Sanjay Dutt, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani

Ravi – Sanjay Dutt

Som – Sharman Joshi

Mangal – Tusshar Kapoor

Budh – Shreyas Talpade

Guru – Arshad Warsi

Shukra – Aftab Shivdasani

Shani – Riteish Deshmukh

Considering all these actors and their fabulous comic timings, we won’t be surprised if some of these actors actually make it into the movie!

Readers familiar with the 1982 cult film will remember that director Raj Sippy, inspired by the Hollywood film, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, had cleverly made a family entertainer keeping the Indian audience in mind. The movie is a story of seven brothers staying on a ranch, living an uncivilised life, led by the eldest brother, Ravi (Amitabh Bachchan). Interestingly, all the brothers’ names were derived from the Hindi names of weekdays. For e.g., Ravi, Som, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra and Shani. Whether Soham Shah will go down the same lane is something we can’t predict. But we are inquisitive to see if he will be able to recreate the wonderful ambience of the ‘80s.
