Today, he is one of the three relatively unknown names in Kai Po Che!. However he has all the right reasons to believe that his destiny would go through a major turnaround in less than 24 hours from now. Amit Sadh, who is sharing screen space with Sushant Singh Rajput and Raj Kumar Yadav in Kai Po Che!, has been around for some time but is confident that his period of struggle would eventually be over once the film hits the screens.
Amit, for you as an actor, what was it about ‘Kai Po Che!’ that made you go for it?
Couple of years back when I was reading the book ‘The 3 Mistakes of my Life’, I was hooked on it there and then. At that time I didn’t know whether a film would be made on this book or I would get to be a part of it. Later when I got to know about the adaptation, I was not specific about which of the three guys did I want to play; I just knew that I had to be in there.
And then you got the part of Omi…
Yes, and I am happy about that. The kind of shades, graph and the catharsis that it goes through is tremendous. To get such a complex role at an initial start of my career was huge enough for me.
In the process you left behind TV
When I decided to leave TV and move into movies, I hadn’t thought that it would take me 5-6 years to do the kind of films I wanted to do. See, there are hurdles in your life and when you set out to achieve something, you have to be patient enough. I am a die hard optimistic. Even when I had spare time, I watched movies and travelled.
In ‘Kai Po Che!’, entire life of the three protagonists has been brought down from an elaborate book to a two hour movie. That must have been some transition, right?
See, in a movie you have to give justice to your book and still finish it in two hours. In case of Kai Po Che!, the screenplay does that. Yes, there are some differences though. A few focal points are different when compared to the book. However the spirit of what Chetan Bhagat has written has been retained. Kai Po Che! is a very well adapted film.
