Whoever thought Bollywood thrives on star tiffs and cat fights, rethink! Times seem to have changed and looks like ‘friendships’ are in vogue. If for decades we printed out stories of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan turning friends-to-foes, 2015 seems to have worked some magic because the duo just can’t get enough of each other anymore. The Karan-Arjun of B-town are back!
The year has been a tough one for Salman since the verdict of his 2002 hit-and-run case had grabbed the headlines after he was convicted for the crime. Amongst the who’s who in the film fraternity who stood by him, other than of course Aamir Khan who is known to share a good rapport with Salman, even Shah Rukh came in support. Let’s also not forget his appearance at Salman’s sister Arpita Khan’s wedding and the famous selfie with Salman and her. This sudden urge to bond and the brewing bromance is definitely raising many eyebrows. These recurring appearances with each other only seem desperate attempts to stay in the headlines. An for other things, there is Twitter at the rescue.
Is it the ‘turning 50’ syndrome? Are the Khans insecure of newbie starkids like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan taking the spotlight?
The Khan trio turn 50 this year and it seems the half century is getting them strangely close enough and the sniping days are now history. So what should we expect next, a Karan-Arjun remake? If things were any less shocking, we heard that Raees and Sultan will be releasing on the same day. Should we say it won’t be jaw-dropping if they decide to promote their films together or for each each other at the least. Obviously now that SRK and Salman have buried the hatchet (which BTW in the first place could have been media induced), it won’t take long for Aamir and SRK to gel up too.
Lastly, as the media, should we be happy for this? As long as this friendship too gets us something juicier, what’s the harm in squeezing these lemons for a lemonade!
