From ‘Monologue Boy’ In Pyaar Ka Punchnama To Karan Johar’s ‘Maa Da Laadla’ In Dostana 2; Kartik Aaryan Comes A Long Way

When you continue to work hard and luck is on your side then even destiny goes in your favour. This is what has happened with Kartik Aaryan who has come a long way from his Pyaar Ka Punchnama days. What started as a rather humble beginning has now taken a turn towards something far bigger, what with none other than Karan Johar roping him in for his much awaited Dostana 2.

“It’s quite apparent that this was written in his destiny,” says a close associate of the actor, “Dostana 2 is perhaps one of the most awaited sequels of all times, other than Hera Pheri 3 of course. Everyone whom you meet has fond memories about Dostana and there were so many instances when Dharma Productions came close to making this franchise a reality. However some or the other reason delayed this and now the film has fallen in Kartik Aaryan’s lap.”

This is unbelievable as Kartik had not even stated his filmy career when Dostana (2008) had released. Ever since then there was a lot of buzz around Karan Johar making a sequel to the film and at one point in time it was also on the cards that Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham would return with the second part. However, now the film boasts of an entirely fresh cast in the form of Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor.

Kartik started his career with a newcomer director Luv Ranjan (Pyaar Ka Punchnama) and his last Superhit Lula Chuppi too was with a first time Bollywood director (Laxman Utekar). With the actor finding quite some credibility building around him during last few years, it would be interesting to see how he approaches the world of Dharma.

“Karan and Kartik were in talks to do something exciting for the longest time and there were more than just the whispers in the Bollywood corridors when the actor featured on Koffee with Karan show. In fact many assumed that an announcement would be made pretty soon. Though it has come after a little while, it is indeed worth it as the film in question is really hot property. Dostana 2 is what you call as a big ticket affair and now one waits to see how the film turns out to be when it releases in 2020,” a trade expert comments.
