The formula for a brilliant opening was earlier a Khan plus song, dances and romance or brutal action (whichever applies) but with the immediate success of Bang Bang, Siddharth Anand is confident that a sequel is in vicinity for the film.
In an interview to Koimoi, Anand informed, “The sequel is on our mind. But we need a story in place before thinking any further on it. Bang Bang is an emotional journey. It’s a revenge film. And the reason that we were compelled to do this was because of the story itself. The film has been promoted differently but it was actually a revenge drama that opens in the first scene and ties up in the last.”
What are the pre requisites Anand is looking at while considering a sequel, are actually very clear. He explains, “If we get a story to match the emotional depth of Bang Bang, then we will make Bang Bang 2 for sure.”
The film in 5 days at the domestic box office has raked over 100 crores, something that was reserved for the Khans alone so far. Benefiting tremendously from the Holiday spell, the film is expect to set newer records both at the domestic as well as global box office.
Colliding with Haider did not harm the film much because it was naturally a film of a bigger scale. It has a good 3 weeks to earn until the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year to settle at a whopping lifetime number. And as far as the sequel is concerned, fans can’t pray enough!
