AR Rahman is nothing less than a global legend with two Academy Awards, one BAFTA, one Golden Globe, one Grammy and six National Awards to his credit. While remixes seem to be the flavor of the season for Bollywood right now, Rahman says he is mighty miffed with all the remixes that have been made out of his original songs.
However, Rahman is quick to say that the only remix he liked was the Humma song from Ok Jaanu. Expressing his distaste for the increasing amount of remixes, AR Rahman has been quoted saying, “The one which I was happy with was The Humma Song (Ok Jaanu; 2017) as it helped the movie. However, after that, I didn’t like any of them. Some of them are really disastrous and very annoying.”
While the remixes still seem to hold the audience strong, the music mastero feels that the trend of remixes is almost dead. Speaking to Hindustan Times in the same interview, Rahman said, “In fact, I told the company who made the remix, ‘You are forcing me to support this but I hate this one, and people are going to troll me if I support this’. As far as the trend is concerned, it’s over. I think people are realizing that music needs love and finding a song for the movie, rather than taking the fast-food route.”
