Ranbir Kapoor might be sending girls into a shouting frenzy every time he is seen in public, but in reality, he is a shy man, sometimes not even comfortable with seeing himself on screen. “I am shy and introverted, as people who know me from my childhood would know,” confesses the Rockstar actor, who started off in Bollywood as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. In fact, the actor, who was brought up in a self-confessed ‘cushioned environment’ attempted to shed this trait of his by joining acting school before he started out as a professional actor in Saawariya.
But if he’s so withdrawn, how did he do the infamous towel scene in his first film itself? “When in front of the camera, I find my space, and I like to get into the skin of the character. If the role is intense, sometimes real and reel lives seem to mix into each other,” he adds.
So did this also happen in the case of Rockstar, where he depicts the journey of a young Jat man to rock-stardom? “Definitely,” is his curt reply. To find out how well Ranbir has been able to metamorphose his shyness into the angst and pathos of a rockstar we have to wait till November 11, when Rockstar releases.
