Romantic Comedies are meant to come up with good music. Hasee Toh Phasee does well in this regard. If you can’t applaud this music album for technique and creativity, sheer freshness will do the trick for you. From a peppy Wedding Song to the calming Manchala, music-director duo Vishal and Shekhar strike the right chords. Moreover, lyrics by Rakesh Kumaar and Amitabh Bhattacharyya add the right ingredients to make the scores of Hasee Toh Phasee worth listening to more than a single time.

Manchala – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

Shafqat Amanat Ali is back with yet another number that balances out the listener’s nerves perfectly. Nupur Pant also shares in the credit for vocals in this song. This song is only one of its kind in the entire album. ‘Manchala’ is not meant to help you party all night long but for a certain long drive, it will surely add the essence.

Punjabi Wedding Song – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

The lyrics, the vocals and the music, every aspect of this score is set to raise the energy levels of the entire crowd, irrespective of age. Just like any Parineeti Chopra movie, the Desi touch remains and that is actually a bonus keeping in mind it is meant to be a Punjabi Wedding Song. What we love? The winter half of Shaadi seasons and the aptness of the number blending perfectly well with its time of release. Credits for vocals go to Sunidhi Chauhan and Benny Dayal.

Shake It Like Shammi – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

Vishal Dadlani and Benny Dayal add vocals to this number which could very well be taken as a tribute to Late Shammi Kapoor who had an unique and sprightly choreography for all the times he shook a leg on screen. If Punjabi Wedding Song is for that family and friends function, this one is for the discs. We don’t applaud the lyrics for any specialty except that this might be one of those songs that stay on the DJ’s house list for quite some time.

Zehnaseeb – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

And it is just a bliss to get that royal touch in both vocals and lyrics especially the opera-like beginning of the score. Chinmayi Sripaada churns melody with every swaram and Shekhar Ravjiani compliments it perfectly. This year’s Valentine’s Day albums might have this soulful track in, say, the 1st or 2nd position.

Drama Queen – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

Another number that reminds you of characters that seem to fit Parineeti well on screen. Good or bad is for you to decide, but with all recent Bollywood movies having a pair or at least one of these Desi touches, Drama Queen fits the look the movie is promoting, cent percent nautanki. Credits for vocals go to Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal.

Ishq Bulava – Hasee Toh Phasee Music Review

A subtle and sweet blend of Sufi and Bollywood. Soothing but not groundbreaking. Sanam Puri and Shipra Goyal do a decent job with the vocals and we love the lyrics for its simple vernacular, absolutely appealing.

Over all, this Vinil Mathew project comes with complimentary music for the two fresh faces, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra. Knowing dear producers, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap, the music must have gone through a lot of filters before reaching us and we don’t hate what we hear!
