The prequel to Game Of Thrones starring Naomi Watts had grabbed all the mainstream headlines when it was announced after the final season of the series ended. This morning comes in as a sad one as the grapevine has it that the prequel has been cancelled and won’t be made anymore.
The pilot episode of the prequel was shot over the summer. It is reported now that the pilot was not liked by the network and that turned out to be the reason that they did not sanction the full-fledged season.
The cast of the cancelled prequel included Oscar-nominated actress Naomi, Naomi Ackie and Denise Gough. It was tentatively titled Bloodmoon and The Long Night.
It is also said that Jane Goldman who was developing the prequel with George RR Martin personally sent e-mails to the cast informing them about the series getting shelved. There is no official confirmation from HBO yet.

According to Deadline, the decision came after a lengthy post-production which included re-editing of the pilot after it wasn’t liked by the network. The rumours also pointed out the issues during shooting in Northern Ireland which was the hub for the original series.
It was back in 2018 when the showrunners were in the last phase of shooting for the season 8 of Game Of Thrones, the news of prequel came out. It was in June the same year when the Goldman helmed pilot was given a green signal.
