User Rating:
Dil Dhadakne Do starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar in lead roles is all set to hit the theaters next week. The film is a classy family drama and hence the music was expected to be something special. Well, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy give us a short five track album but unfortunately it is not that sweet to the ears.
Dil Dhadakne Do – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
The title track of Dil Dhadakne Do is a completely peppy and upbeat number. It has a typical Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy’s composition feel to it. Sung by actors Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, the song does not have a single dull moment and is like an energy blast. You will be forced to tap your feet to this song and in my understanding this could be one of your picks for the morning work out sessions. Particularly, Priyanka impresses with her vocals in this song.
Pehli Baar – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
Pehli Baar is the romantic song from the film. The song begins with a bass guitar and as it progresses ahead, you are reminded of tracks such as ‘Dil Dhadakne Do‘ and ‘Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein‘ from Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara since they have similar music arrangements. Siddharth Mahadevan and Sukriti Kakkar sing this song and well, Siddharth sounds quite impressive after his ‘Zinda‘ from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. His voice comes as a breath of fresh air from the repetitive singers such as Arijit Singh and Ankit Tiwari in almost all the recent films. Not the best tracks from the album but certainly a decent one.
Gallan Goodiyaan – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
Punjabi tracks are stereotypical and this one is an addition to that list. Composers Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy take no efforts for this track as they present a song which sounds old in terms of the musical arrangements. The song has three vocalists, Yashita Sharma, Manish Kumar Tipu and Farhan Akhtar. Half-way through the song you get bored and it is loses its grip completely by the end. This will be one of those tracks from the album which you will hear only in the film.
Girls Like To Swing – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
Girls Like To Swing is a Jazz style number sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. Even though the song is an upbeat, foot tapping number, it is not quite enjoyable. The lyrics make little sense, unless they have a significance in the film. Overall, this is one song you can altogether avoid from the album.
Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi does not sound like a song that survive as a standalone number. It seems like a song that will have significance only in the film with a fitting video. The song has various artists in it as Farhan Akhtar, Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar, Alyssa Mendonsa, Sapna Pathak bring their distinct voices together. Yet, the song fails to leave a mark on the listener.
The Last Word – Dil Dhadakne Do Music Review
The Dil Dhadakne Do album is a mixed bag with only two good tracks grabbing your attention. My picks from the album are the title track and ‘Pehli Baar‘. It is a signature style of music for Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy and so a little disappointing since we do not get anything fresh. I am going with 2.5/5 for this album.
