Dil Dhadakne Do looks like an experience for most of its actors. Earlier when we had spoken to Priyanka Chopra, the actress was enthralled about it. She had said, “Who wouldn’t like to wake up to blue waters?” The cruise-line experience was out of the world for Zoya Akhtar’s Team.
In a recent interview to Koimoi, Ranveer Singh elaborated about his experience. He said, “Zoya’s film was a break from what my default is. I had to tell Zoya that I needed time to wrap my head around the kind of films she makes. The performances in her films are candid, conversational and natural. She emphasizes the naturalness of things. She doesn’t want her actors to use a lot of make-up, she wants to shoot in natural light, and dialogues must be spoken as if it’s a conversation.”

When Ranveer had confirmed to Koimoi about being a part of the film during his interview for Gunday, he had added about his affinity for Ramleela-ish roles which are essentially larger than life and grand. He might have been easily referred to as a misfit but in Ranveer Singh, we trust!
Talking about his fare and repertoire, Ranveer said, “Having done theatre throughout school and studied it for four years, my default is theatrical, which is why I work so well with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Zoya guided me and helped me a lot. I hope people like my performance in Dil Dhadakne Do as I have attempted something different.”
But Singh signed off with, “Towards the end of the shooting I was feeling like, ‘I need a Bhansali film. I need to shout and cry and do something loud’ (laughs)”
It is a coincidence for the actor that he will start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani the very next day of wrapping up Dil Dhadakne Do. His wish has been granted. Bhansali to Singh’s rescue we say.
