Fresh from his critically-acclaimed role in Ishqiya, Arshad Warsi is pulling out all stops to make the kind of films he wants. The Bollywood actor, whose maiden venture Hum Tum Aur Ghost is all set to release on March 26, is already writing his second film, tentatively titled Akad. Interestingly, while in Hum Tum Aur Ghost Arshad dons the multiple hats of an actor, producer and writer; he plans to turn director with his next venture.

Arshad told KoiMoi, “I’m working on an action-comedy, Guy Ritchie-kind of film. It’s has a very complicated and quirky screenplay and won’t be an easy film to make. So I’ve decided to direct it myself.”

Buzz is that the film’s backdrop will be the underbelly of Thailand and the mafia of the UK. But will the audiences appreciate the Guy Ritchie kind of gangster humour? Arshad ripostes, “The film will be fun but simple. My logic says that you can be very adventurous with your story, but if the people don’t understand it, you will fail.”

The film, to be produced by Arshad’s own banner Shooting Stars, will go on floors by mid-2011. The star cast is yet to be finalized, though Arshad hinted that he might take up the lead role if he doesn’t find an actor ready to commit enough time to the project.
