Yesterday we brought you the sad news that the shooting of Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai had come to a halt following actor Sachin Tyagi testing COVID-19 positive. In the latest updates, other actors from the show, Samir Onkar and Swati Chitnis, have also contracted the virus. Apart from these two actors, four technicians are also positive.
Swati Chitnis essays Suhasini Goenka, Kartik’s grandmother. On the other hand, Samir Samarth plays Samarth Goenka. Samir recently made a comeback on the show.
Rajan Shahi, producer of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, in an official statement, said, “Actors Swati Chitnis, Sachin Tyagi, Samir Onkar, who are an integral part of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, have tested positive for COVID-19, but the three of them are asymptomatic. Due to safety reasons, they are in home quarantine. BMC had advised them for the same as they were showing no symptoms. Immediately, the entire on-crew team was isolated and tested. Four crew members have now tested positive.”
The Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai producer informed that BMC officials has been informed. He also said that the entire set has been sanitised and fumigated. He added that the actor and technicians who have been tested positive are receiving medical attention while quarantined at home.
Swati Chittnis added, “I would like to clarify that I have tested positive with COVID-19. Luckily, I am asymptomatic and doing well, recovering fast. I have been monitoring my health from time to time. Hopefully, I will bounce back soon. Rajan Shahi is the best producer I have ever worked with and actors are well taken care of by his team.”
Samir Onkar also shared, “For the first time in my life I feel being positive is not so cool. Luckily I am asymptomatic. I have self-isolated myself, taking care of my diet and also doing some breathing exercise. God is great, everything will be fine.”
The current track of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai revolves around Sachin Tyagi’s character who has lost his memory following an accident and his son is currently taking care of him. The team recently celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on the sets.
We hope they get well soon and we see them on our screens again.
